The last BD/DVD cover for No.6 :( It was fun hunting down amazon every month for the cover release. I swear Rikiga, Inukashi and baby Shion are almost a perfect family.and dammit! It’s a sin to be this beautiful, Nezumi!

His art is very sketchy but there is something about it that captures the emotions and mood around. Only reason to why I look forward to the anime is probably because of toi8’s illustrations. It seems that this is one of the latest trend growing in animes(?) I’ve been seeing lots of end cards in many animes lately.

Trust me, this series is really “SO HETEROSEXUAL”Įnd cards are illustrations at the end of an anime. it’s quite rare to see him grinning right!? The first illustration ever that took my heart was the one on the left :D After that, it was all sparkles and rainbows. Most of it are promotional illustrations from magazines that features the anime. Okay, I’ll have to thank No.6/Atsuko Asano too for characters like Nezumi and Shion.īasically a compilation of illustrations you have already seen all over the internet. If I have one person to thank for getting me out of depression and my art block/art depression, it was toi8. What made me fall in love with No.6 first, was an illustration from toi8 and episode 1. But the truth is, I enjoyed the characters development more than the plot itself. I was totally engrossed with No.6 until the point of no return. What kept me going was the novel and it pretty much consumed me. So I say, if you are tired of shojo heroines go 'kyaa kyaa' over trivial situations, or tragic heroines burdened with saving the world etc and want to appreciate a manga well written and well drawn, pick this one.I know, they might remind you of Allen and Kanda from D.Gray-man :'Dīut if you want me to be honest, no, I didn’t really enjoy the anime after episode 4. It is obvious that we readers love to guess who the criminal is when we read mystery novels/stories, and this manga does a fine job leading us on wild goose chases! And about the final reveal - some of the comments below claim that it was too obvious. The tension within the games (though hard to follow), the determination of each character, as well as the hunt for the murderer - each of them have been amazingly portrayed. The portraits - yes, instead of graphic art, each rendering of characters is a portrait, that hide subtle nuances. The artwork is hands down one of the most gorgeous ones have seen. And that the murderer might just be someone close to her. Meanwhile, as the media become more aware of the talented young Shogi player with the tragic past, Shion realises that she does remember fragments of the events of that fateful night. It has been eight years, and the murders remain unsolved. Almost, as if she were chosen by the god of Shogi.

Taken in by kind neighbours, Shion grows up to be an amazing Shogi player. Shion no Ou is about a four year old Shion being discovered in a sea of her parents' blood. But then it speaks a lot when that handicap does not stop the manga from being beautiful, and addictive.

One of the disadvantages of being a non-native is that you miss out a lot of nuances when it comes to mangas like Chihayafuru.
